The Best Halloween Books for Kids
I love the month of October and all things Halloween. When my twins were younger, I started collecting Halloween books. We love reading the books through out the month of October and over the years we’ve collected about thirty books. I’m always on the hunt for more, so if you have any good recommendations, please leave them in the comments. Here are a few of our favorites.
1. The Night Before Halloween by Natasha Wings
This book is a Halloween take on The Night Before Christmas poem. It’s a fun read with great illustrations.
2. Scholastic Reader Level 2: Inside a House That is Haunted by Alyssa Satin Capucilli
This book is great for kids learning to read as it repeats lines but adds more to the story each time. This is Owen’s favorite Halloween book.
3. Wee Witches’ Halloween (Read with Me Paperbacks) by Jerry Smath
This is a fun book about four little witches who go to scaring school and then go out on Halloween night to find someone to scare.
4. Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson
This book should be a part of everyone’s Halloween library. It has cute characters and is a really fun story. It is one of our favorites books.
5. Too Many Pumpkins by Linda White
I found this book at my local library. They were selling it for $1.00. We had never read it before, but I thought for a dollar we could give it a try. I’m so glad we did. It is about a lady who hates pumpkins, but in the end learns to love them. The story in between is the fun part. She has a cute cat too.
6. At the Old Haunted House by Helen Ketteman
This book has silly spooky rhymes, your kids will learn their numbers and the illustrations are super detailed as well. It’s a win all around.
7. The Best Halloween Hunt Ever by John Speirs
If your kids like the I Spy Books, then they will love this one, where they look for pumpkins, bats, witches, etc… inside the book.
