The Very Best Christmas Traditions
There are so many fun Christmas traditions to do with your family. Sometimes it can seem overwhelming to pick the very best ones. Over the years, I’ve fine tuned the ones our family likes best and today I’m sharing a few of our favorites.
- Making Gingerbread houses: This is one of the longest standing traditions in my family. I remember making gingerbread houses with my brothers and sisters when I was a kid and we still do it to this day. My sister hosts the party and all my sibling come. She orders pizza and everyone is in charge of bringing all the supplies, which means candy, candy and more candy. There is a prize for most creative house, but I don’t waste my time with that. I focus on getting the most candy on my house.
- Drive through Christmas Lights: We started this tradition a few years ago and let me tell you it is a game changer. We used to bundle our kids up and fight the traffic to go downtown and then worry about getting lost in the crowds of people, to look at the Christmas lights and display windows. Now a we just drive in our warm car to the venue and stay in it for the whole experience. We drive through acres of lights synchronized to holiday music that we hear right through our radio. My boys love it and I do too. It is a much better way to experience Christmas lights.
- Christmas Book and Pajamas: My mom used to give us Christmas pajamas on Christmas Eve, which I loved, but then we only got to wear them once before Christmas. I love this tradition, but just moved the timeline forward and added a book. At the beginning of the month, I give my boys some pajamas, and each one of them a Christmas book. That way we get to enjoy both the book and the pajamas all month long.
