How to Be Active Outside in the Winter
One of the goals I always set for myself each new year is to be active. However, I’m not a gym person. In years past I have signed up for a membership and after about a month or two I stop going, it just doesn’t work for me. I need to be outside in the fresh air. I live in Utah and our winters can get cold, like below freezing cold, so with the new year, I’m setting the goal and rededicating myself to being active.
Today I’m going to share two of my favorite ways to be active outside in the winter.
- My personal favorite way to be active is hiking. My kids and husband can attest to this because I drag them out with me sometimes. We live about two minutes from the foothills of the Oquirrh Mountains. I love to walk and explore the different trails. I love the landscape and the beauty of Mother Nature. If you are looking for a way to be active this winter, gear up and take a hike.
- When there is too much snow on the ground for hiking, I like to go snowshoeing. I just started snowshoeing a couple of years ago, and when I started I got a pair of Yukon Charlie snowshoes with poles and they have worked out great for me. To find trails around where you live, just google snowshoeing trails in your city and I bet a bunch of websites pop up. If you are in the Salt Lake City area, snowshoeutah.com is a great site with a ton of information on gear and trails.
Hope you are sticking to your New Years goals. Xoxo, Sue
